The Chess pieces are hand carved by our master artisans and crafted out of the finest woods and are heavily weighted with luxurious billiard cloth base pads and a beautiful finish.
As with all of our Chess sets, the Varna Series exemplifies a perfect combination of distinct beauty and functionality. The Chessmen are new and each set consists of 34 Chessmen, including four Queens, a standard that was introduced by The House of Staunton in 1993.

Crafted in Spain, the House of Staunton Standard Traditional Tiger Ebony / Maple wooden Chessboard features Tiger Ebony (dark) and Maple (light) squares with a Tiger Ebony frame. This veneered Chessboard is 0.5" thick, has a satin finish and a beautiful molded edge.

The Slide Top Chess Box is the most economical way to protect your chess pieces. It comes with a removable green pillow lining that allows it to hold a set of chess pieces of various sizes, from 3.0" to 4.4".
